![]() There are other options of-course but their presentations will be different from the scm 19, like the B&W D805, Kef Reference1, Focal Diablo Utopia, Dynaudio C1, Dali Epicon 2 etc. I heard the 2 and tonality wise it was not too far off ATC, another option perhaps is ProAc response 2 - please note I am indicating book shelf models only. Perhaps things are different now.īTW if budget is no bar you should be looking at Focal sopra no.1. ![]() Please note I have heard only v1 - so no experience with the latest series. So essentially the scm10 will lie between the 7 and 11 (in terms of cabinet volume i.e 7 litres and 11 liters) so perhaps it has that same magic. No wonder then ATC is issuing a SCM10 signature edition, a favorite speaker of their MD and founder Billy Woodman. The smaller ATC's have a kind of magic that is missing from their bigger brothers. The 11 is the most rounded of their entry level series. The 19 while very good, IMO cannot image and soundstage as well as the the SCM11. Naim Core, Weiss 501 DAC, Decware ZLC power conditioning, Quadraspire Reference X equipment stand, commensurate cabling, ATC 50As with Gaia l footers. I've no experience with ATC Pro products. Guys I need 10-12 channels of power amps for my surrounds/ceiling speakers, since phase match would be important in this circumstance, all the amps should be the same. The tweeter it uses is the Vifa D26NC-15-06 which is supposed to be flat and with a little spark in the 16khz area, so we don't understand why its dark sound. It performs really good for its age, but it is a speaker on the 'dark side'. In the end, you can really use ANYTHING to monitor. Hello, I have a friend who have a a pair of the original ATC SCM12 model. If ATC made a speaker in the same price range it would suffer from the same limitations. Of course the ATC's are going to be better made, and be more accurate and whatever else he said. The ATC SCM 19v2 is a suberb monitor at 4k and if driven correctly sounds very. That ATC retails for almost 3k, and the yamaha are under 400/side. In terms of looks Harbeths are much prettier. ( SCM ) of axisymmetric equilibria with constant plasma pressure. The Harbeths are a midrange oriented speaker that has much more an editorializing effect of adding liquidity to music even if it isn't there. This being their consumer line, may be tuned differently. The ATC are much more neutral and have far greater bass extension and punch. Actually I feel the 7 images even better and completely disappears but it is devoid of any meaningful bass response. Nothing sounds overwhelming nor head severing. I added a Focal CMS Sub to the setup after a couple of months as I found the ATCs a bit light in the bass. In all of these my preference is the atc scm 11. ATC SCM25A - revealing, or just wrong I upgraded from ProAc Studio 100s to ATC 25As about 9 months ago. The LS50 is a modern classic.I have owned the ATC SCM19, ATC7 and currently own the SCM 11 all v1. Like many LS50 owners it took owning them twice to really get how special they are. However they can sound stunning with the best. Not the most revealing.they will sound at least nice with nearly anything. ATC speakers are far better than Harbeth at revealing everything connected to them. This speaker is very revealing and can be a bit bright. Driver integration wasn’t as good as with Harbeth but I felt that the drivers themselves were top shelf. I never returned from a concert and listened to them and said oh yeah I recognize that. Unless you feed the C7 enough power the bass is always a little slow. The primary problem with the C7 is the box itself. The Compact 7 has a very similar naturalness to the P3. The only real problem I had with the P3 is that it always sounded small and it is. The natural sound of the acoustic instruments got him. He though it was further away than the room next door so he wasn’t bothered by the lack of scale. He quickly informed me that he is a musician and has never been fooled like that before. He was dumbfounded when I told him that what he was hearing was my stereo. I’d better hurry and let you get back to practice”. He kept looking distracted.finally he said “your band is quite good. I got pair of SCM12 to my hands with the description and complaints that stereo image was not. I had a man over to my house to buy records and I was playing a CD in my music room with the door closed. The Harbeth P3 was probably the most natural sounding. Click to expand. All of the speakers that I listed are quite good.
